Early Life and Career
Laura Margaret Tingle was born on 14 February 1961 in Sydney, Australia. She began her journalism career in 1983 as a cadet with The Canberra Times. She went on to work for The Australian Financial Review and The Sydney Morning Herald before joining the ABC in 2005.
Chief Political Correspondent
In 2007, Tingle was appointed chief political correspondent for the ABC's nightly current affairs program 7.30.
